After Effects 101

4.1: Task A: You are required to create a short 10-second long "title sequence" or "ident" for yourself. this piece must feature your name, but any other text e.g a job title is up to you.

Document set up: [Composition > New Composition] in the composition dialogue screen select [Preset > HDTV 1080 29.97] or [1920 x 1080px] leave all other settings at default.

For my first title sequence I used a royalty free mosaic background with the song Letting Go by Saint Raymond. The sequence begins with my name and the title of my blog. I chose the mosaic video as it represent my ingenuity, my creative flair and just a welcoming sequence.

(this sequence combined both task A and B)

I experimented with the transformations using the the opacity tool allowing the beginning screen (white) to fade out into the mosaic video. I applied the same effect to the text. As I had not previously used the software before I treated it as adobe premier. This allowed me transfer key skills that are similar across all softwares created by adobe. Thus experimenting with the key frames within this clip.

After grasping the basic I created a small GIF/ Ident of a cartoon wink, which I will later develop incorporating my name and possibly a logo.

I used the scale and pen tool to construct this simple yet effect video which has character. The line originally started as a moustache idea however I found that I preferred the simple I don't know expression of 'Meh' as I constantly come out with random expressions. I could later develop some other emoji style expressions along with this one.

- This video was also constructed after watching work from Ilikethat.com as they use simple vector shapes to create interesting videos and ads.

I added sound to as well as animating each individual letter and incorporating a small animation on the end.

I wanted to push my after effects skills further which ended up in me creating a short show reel of all the work I have constructed in the past 4 weeks on the course. I combined work from illustrator and animated it, I took my images from photoshop and added effects to them them to animate and change their static behaviour. I even added small geometric animations to fill in the gaps.

- I found that a I prefer to learn new skills when I feel engaged and want to construct something rather than be restricted to certain tools.
