I was initially planning on creating 3 top motion videos with chocolate coins and money. We wanted a fun kitch creative direction.
In the first photo you can see me trying to use my phone, to animate. I originally planned to use my camera and sync it to my laptop and use light room to house the shots. I was then going to take the photos into adobe after effects as it registers an image sequence and stitches the images all together for me. I was then going to colour grade and edit. However, the shoot did not go to plan. The camera would not sync up to lightroom, nor was it working. We were running out of time as we spent the morning trying to get the set up to work. We had booked the room out for the entire day, and could only have the lights for 2. We did not want to end the day empty handed. We then tried to animate using my phone. I downloaded an app called stop motion. in an attempt to get something from the shoot. This did not work as it did not create the desired effect we wanted to create. I bought and paid for all the props and provided my own experiment as well as the Kit stores equipment.
We realised we had to try and salvage the shoot. We decided to create campaign posters that were eye catching and explained the idea visually.
We ended up creating posters and shot stills of the props to create posters and media posts to spread the word about the new concept.
These are some of the shots from the day. We came up with copy that we could shoot with, which you will see on the next slide. I had bought chocolate coins, coloured backdrops and props to help with the shoot.
We managed to get a fun and engaging outcome. I want to create GIFs from some of the shots to go into my portfolio; as a way to expand the campaign would be to create social posts from these as well.
Me and Rosie came up with tag lines and copy such as:
‘Money can’t buy happiness … But it can buy shoes’
‘Save the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves’
‘Saving for that trip to Bali, you don’t need that coffee this morning’
‘A penny saved is a penny earned’
‘Money makes the world go round … well sometimes’
‘Coffee makes the world go round, oh wait, thats money’
To go with the my shots
I then started editing and experimenting with the shots and edits. I shot in RAW which made it easier for me to edit and manipulate the shots. I found photoshop was better to work in as I was cutting and editing the shots. I needed to clean up the shoes to get rid of the dirt as well as increase the shine on the coins to emphasis the reflection and ‘Gold’.
We wanted the posters super simple but eye catching with colour. They also needed to be relatable and fun.
