Whatulookinat is an 'insta-blog' raising awareness of Cleft Lip and Palate. The project was created in collaboration with CLAPA who are the leading UK charity for Cleft Lip and Palate. It features real stories from children who are part of the Young People's Council at CLAPA and their age's range between 8 - 21 years of age.
Insight:
As a child born with Cleft Lip and Palate, you think you are the only child like you in the world.
To tackle this problem I created a instagram account housing personal and relatable content, whilst still raising awareness of what cleft lip and palate is to a wider audience. Engaging both; those born with Cleft Lip and Palate, as well as, raising awareness to the general public with simplified illustrations.
The name 'What You Lookin At' has a double meaning, it originated from being in situations of discomfort, where people would stare, point or say something to their friend and laugh. It is a question to myself; What are they looking at? and why are they staring at me? as well as a confrontational message of retaliation. It plays on educating so people understand 'what they are looking at' in the hope they would not continue to stare and make the person feel uncomfortable.
