Ravensbourne - BA (Hons) Advertising & Brand Design - Pitch & Client Feedback

This was the pitch we presented to Derek Yates (our Course Leader) and a representative from Ravensbourne's marketing department for foundation.

We chose an American accent because we wanted to emphasise the diversity of the course and the international students. It was also to emphasise how cheesy we are as a course, it was meant to be light hearted and engaging, we wanted it to be a video that would be shared amongst friends and family as well as have a reliability factor.

The Final Video:

The Pitch:

Client Feedback:

"Fun. Well structured. Incorporates industry connections really well. Tone of voice is a little too sales. Needs to feel more like a statement and less like a pitch. Tweak the script and drop the American accent. Feature more student work and incorporate some of the key ideas from the course beyond working with industry and earning loads of money."

After being shortlisted for this brief we had a meeting with the client to discuss amends to the video;

  • In response to our client feedback we plan to make amends for a deadline beginning of September. These amends include highlighting the key insight: ‘Welcome to your new FAMILY’.

  • They also include use rewording a few phrases such as ‘You can do anything you want’ to ‘You can be whatever you want’

  • At the end of our video we use witty/ sarcastic side comments like ‘Let that sink in’ and ‘Mic drop’, the client would like us to add more of these into the amended video for September.

  • One of the biggest amends suggested was the voice over, however as we had paid for this we wanted to try and convince the client to keep it as the idea of the video was too be cheesy and over the top. We came to a compromise with the client to make sure we set up the video as such as a spring board to allow the audience to understand that the video is cheesy and is meant to be a light hearted approach towards the course. In doing so the client has asked us to drop the ‘warning, parents leave the room’ section at the beginning.

The meeting provided us a chance to discuss what the client wanted as well as us learning how to negotiate with them too keep

parts of our original designs and insights clear.
