Facebook - Digital Skills Workshop

Today I attended a very inspirational talk by @nissytee about online presence and developing ideas. It involved a warm up activity of flash cards with different company names on and we had to clash the companies together to come up with a new company and idea. We were put on groups of tables with people we did not know before and had to brainstorm together. It was a really great activity to get out my head. I found so far with this project that I wasn't getting anywhere with it. I felt like I was hitting a brick wall. This workshop enabled me to walk a away from it and get out of my head. I was learning to think fast and on my feet.

@nissytee was so inspiring as she made you think about the problem from all angles, from tackling how to track people using your website, how you can improve your posting online to create better engagement. Create a posting schedule and be constantly present on your socials and build a brand. She gave a real insight into the websites used by companies to better their user interaction and experience. Me, Rosie and Adila were also able to speak about the growth of big fridge and getting it off the ground. The person that had organised the event heard us explaining the concept and came up to us after the talk, to discuss the potential growth they could help us with. She gave us her contact details and told us to get in touch to push the idea further as she thought the concept was great!

Going back to the workshop, Nissy gave us an interesting structure for whenever we create an idea:

- Empathise

- Define

- Ideate

- Prototype

- Test

This was a similar structure to what we had been thought in class and it gave me satisfaction that this is what framework they use in the real world. It also helped me to re-think where I was going with my project. I was empathising with my target audience, I was defining what cleft lip and palate was. I was ideating it into different mediums and I was prototyping with different copy and layouts of the ideas. I was then able to start testing the concept in real time before submission and was able to get engagement, which to me, meant that I had achieved my brief. As I could see what I was doing, was working!

During this day I also found out what kind of character I am. I performed a character test to see how I reacted in different situations and got a break down of what I am. Apparently I am a Visualiser. However I would argue some aspects of the test and the results, as I says my resilience is low, however, I would argue that its very high. It was good to try and test to see what results I got
